Property Summary
The Toro property was see exploration and work since the days of the Klondike Gold Rush. In fact the first claims on the project were placer gold claims staked on Hayes Creek in 1898. Placer gold has been produced on the project up and into the 1980’s. Exploration and drilling work through the 1960’s and 80’s focused on the base metals potential but turned up significant gold results. Minor exploration programs in the 1990’s and into the 21st century developed out the soil and geophysical information but did not return to drilling until Dawson Gold Corp’s Summer 2010 summer program.
By the summer of 2010, the Toro project had produced some of the best untested gold/arsenic anomalies in the Dawson Range, New radiometric surveys anomalies that were found to be coincident with historic gold intersections and major structural corridors. The placer gold produced on Hayes Creek and its tributaries lies directly down slope of some of these anomalies.
Dawson Gold Corp tested 4 of these targets with 7 drill holes with an average depth of 216 m. Soil samples were taken concurrently with the testing of 4 km scale IP geophysical grids and also on contours on the south west side of the property.

View southwesterly over the Tad property, showing the location of the gold-in-soil geochemical anomaly identified by Noranda in 1987. This anomaly likely represents the intersection of supergene gold horizon with the present erosion surface.
| Year | Company | Work |
|---|---|---|
| 1898 | Discovery of placer gold on property | |
| 1969 | International Mines Services | Regional exploration located Tad Mineral Occurrence Soil sampling, trenching, mag and IP surveys identified 3 geochem anomalies
2708 m NQ core drilled in 18 holes in 2 zones in winter ‘69/70 Zone 1-minor molybdenum mineralization in 3 holes Zone 2-best hole returned 7.2 m grading 2% combined Pb-Zn; 27.6 g/t Ag and 1.03 g/t Au |
| 1986 | Noranda Exploration | Analysis of on-site drill core to assess oxide gold potential
Zone 2-reanalysis of 1969 drilling resulted in 0.5 g/t Au over 37 m (hole T- 2) including 1 g/t Au over 8.2 m; 1.23 g/t Au over 4.9 m (hole T-12) and 1.68 g/t Au over 7 m (hole T-14) Lead to soil sampling program, trenching, 4 ddh-results were not encouraging |
| 1988 | Property Owners (Harris/Davidson) | Prospecting, sampling, data compilation
Work by Hart (YTG geological survey) in 1998 concluded that the 4 Noranda ddh were collared below the base of the oxide horizon, and thus missed the targeted supergene zone Hart also noted that the radiometric signature at the Tad/Toro is similar to, although larger and slightly less intense than, the Casino deposit (located 55 km to the northwest) |
| 1996 | International Kodiak Resources Ltd. | Extensive soil sampling and VLF-EM and magnetometer surveys |
| 1999-2001 | Pan Ocean Explorations Inc./ British American Mining Corp. | Compilation of geophysical, geochemical and drill information to outline anomalies |
| 2002-present | Property Owners (Harris/Davidson) | Reinterpretation of historical geophysical surveys for targeting of drill holes
